SPX Saved By The Bounce
SPX was headed for a YTD loss this week until a bounce off Intermediate-term support at 2703.56 saved the quarter-end gain.It is now on a sell signal. Equities are entering their negative season, so protect what small profits there are in 2018.
SPX Declines From Two-Year Trendline
SPX declined from its 2-year trendline at 2790.00, closing at a loss for the week. A decline beneath its upper 7-year trendline and Short-term support at 2721.37 creates a sell signal.
SPX Challenges The Two-Year Trendline
SPX rallied to challenge its 2-year trendline at 2775.00, closing slightly above it. While SPX may go higher in the coming days, the rally is very stretched and may be prone to a sudden reversal.
HH SPX Whipsaws Investors
SPX declined through its 2-year trendline at 2745.00 on Tuesday, but bounced at its Short-term support at 2680.18, sending back above the trendline. It has created a whipsaw effect, where a sell signal is given one day and a buy signal the next.
SPX Could Send Sell Signal
This week SPX​ rallied again to its 2-year trendline at 2742.24 on Tuesday, but declined to its 7-year trendline support at 2700.00 at the end of the week. It has the potential of creating a sell signal by declining beneath 2700.00.
E VIX Tests Two-Year Trendline
VIX challenged mid-Cycle resistance at 13.90 and the low tested its two-year trendline even as SPX ​was repelled by the 2-year trendline Tuesday in what is being identified as a breakout of a Triangle formation.
